The double yellow sport of the species, R. foetida, the blooms are very bright, egg-yolk yellow and are borne in small clusters. This is the plant that Joseph Pernet-Ducher used to breed the first truly yellow garden rose, Soleil d'Or. All modern yellow and orange roses owe their coloring to this hybrid and thus to R. foetida persiana.
